Earl Craig

Herrin- Earl Craig, 91, of Herrin died at 9:10 PM, Sunday, June 3, 2001 at his home. Mr. Craig was born on March 21, 1910 in Wolf Creek, IL to James B. & Sarah (Wilson) Craig. He married Ruby Escue in April of 1936 in Pinckneyville, IL. She preceded him in death on December 12, 1989. Earl retired from the Illinois Central Railroad as a car inspector after forty years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Herrin. SURVIVORS: Dtr & son in law- Shirley & Jerry Simpson- Carterville Son & dtr in law- David A. & Melanie Craig- Carterville Three grandchildren: Andrew Craig- Carterville Craig & wife Debbie Simpson- Carterville Blake & wife Sandy Simpson- Ponte Vedra, FL Several nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers; Ernie, Elmer, Ray, and Albert Craig, and one sister; Maude Brown. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Lee Lovett will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service. Memorial donations may be made to Unity Christian School and will be accepted at the funeral home.
