Eddy Gene Murphy

Herrin- EDDY GENE MURPHY, age 63, of Herrin, passed away on Thursday July 5, 2007 at his residence in Herrin. Eddy was born in Herrin on May 23, 1944, the son of Orlie and Bessie (Lockard) Murphy. He married Barbara Evelyn Lockard in Kankakee on October 25, 1963. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2002. Eddy retired from George Jones Construction Company. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and pitching washers. He had a love for motorcycles. Survivors include three daughters- Christa Jean Hoffard of Herrin, IL Jessica Joy and Cody Martin of Herrin, IL Patsy Lynn and Dale McGee of Lake of Egypt, IL 5 grandchildren- Heidi McGee of Marion, IL Dale McGee of Lake of Egypt, IL Jeremy McGee of Lake of Egypt, IL Scott and Shaina Hoffard of Herrin, IL Several nephews and nieces Eddy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Barbara, sister- Verna Murphy, and one brother- Ray Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
