Herrin- Edith Bianchini, 92, of Herrin, passed away at 11:45 PM, Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Edith was born on March 6, 1918 in West Deer Township, PA to Alex & Pierina (Battioli) Ruggeri. She married Joe Bianchini on February 12, 1946 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1973.
Mrs. Bianchini worked many years as a clerk at Ruggeri Bakery and Confectionery, Chevies Tavern and Rechter Brothers all in Herrin.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the Holy Solidarity and a past member of the Catholic Womens Club.
Survivors include-
Nephew- Frank Cappelletti & wife Janice of OFallon, IL
Nephew- Phillip Ruggeri & wife Sue of Herrin
Nephew- Steve Ruggeri & wife Karen of Marion
Several great nephews and great nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Josephine Cappelletti, brother- Mario Chevie Ruggeri & wife Marie and niece- Janice Green.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until time of service, Thursday, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
