Marion- Edith J. Parks, 89, of Marion, died at 9:15 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Whispering Oaks in Marion. Edith was born on April 21, 1912 in Whiteash, IL to Charlie ?Bert? & Della (Butts) Moore. She married Charley ?Buster? Crain on August 29, 1931. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1972. She married Barnie W. Parks on June 5, 1973 in Marion. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1982. Mrs. Parks retired from the State of Illinois. She formerly was employed as a switchboard operator for the Tinley Park Mental Health Center. She was a member of Arnold View Free Will Baptist Church. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Carlyne & Don Grisham- Marion Three Grandchildren: Donna & husband Jeff Parks Greg & wife Penny Grisham Randy & wife Suzanne Grisham Five Great Grandchildren: Jeremy Parks Trevor Parks Aimee Grisham Blake Grisham Carly Grisham Bro & sis in law- Charles & Lorene Moore- Marion Her parents, husbands, one daughter; Barbara Sue Crain, and four sisters; Maxine Burgess, Verna Mae Moore, Evelyn Singleton, and Catherine Herren preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Ivan Ryan will officiate. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
