Herrin- EDITH (EDWARDS) LOYD, age 88, of Herrin, passed away at 10:30pm on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at her home in Herrin.
Edith was born in Windsor, Illinois on March 28, 1923, the daughter of William Dudley and Martha (Davis) Edwards. She married Virgil Hubert Loyd in Marion on November 21, 1941. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2002.
Edith worked as a cook for ten years at the Herrin Hospital. She was a member of the Crenshaw Baptist Church, Senior Circle of Marion, and Senior Centers in Herrin and Marion. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. With her cheerful disposition, she always made others laugh and will be missed very much.
Survivors include her two daughters- Deloris and James Priddy of Herrin, IL
Jeanette and Don Cogdill of Herrin, IL
Two Sons- Don Loyd of Little Rock, Ark
Kenneth and Tina Loyd of Springfield
Sister- Pearl Rosine of Shelbyville
Brother- Walter and Helen Edwards of Mattoon
Special Nieces- Sammy Wickiser and Ann Rosine
Sister-in-Law- Dorothy Loyd
Good Friends- Betty Akins, Dorothy and Carold Atterberry, and Paradine

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Virgil Loyd, two sons- Billy and Eugene Loyd, two sisters- Agnes Edwards Grounds, Ruth Edwards Wickiser and her husband Max, three brothers- Francis Edwards and his wife Barbara, Donald Edwards and his wife Rosella, and Kenneth Truman Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 12-1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
