Edith Marie Gatewood

Herrin- EDITH MARIE GATEWOOD, age 81, of Herrin, passed away at 10:45am on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Herrin Hospital. Marie was born on September 12, 1924 in Waddy, KY to John Willie and Mary Alice (Searcy) Spaulding. Ms. Gatewood retired from General Electric in Louisville, KY, having worked there 25 years. She received an Associates Degree in Fine Arts from the Jefferson County Community College in Louisville, KY. Marie was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, KY since 1947. Survivors include: One Daughter and Son-In-Law- Carol Jean and J.C. Garavalia- Carbondale, IL Two Grandsons- Kevin E. Boucher and wife Loraine Hunziker- Murphysboro, IL David C. Boucher of Murphysboro, IL and his fianc, Julie Cox of Carbondale, IL One Great Grandson- Tyler Boucher- Wayne City, IL One Sister- Shirley Kistner- Shelbyville,KY One Niece- Peggy Baldwin- Louisville, KY One Great Nephew- Todd Baldwin- Louisville, KY Marie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister- Pauline Jeffries, one nephew- Larry Wilson, and one dear granddaughter-in-law- Andrea Colp Boucher. Funeral services for Ms. Gatewood will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville, KY. Burial will follow in Pigeon Fork Cemetery in Waddy, KY. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville, KY. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is handling all local arrangements.
