Edith May Colp

Herrin- EDITH MAY COLP, age 97, of Herrin, passed away at 6:35pm on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Herrin Hospital. Edith was born in Dekoven, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert Marian and Betty (Jacobs) Chandler. She married John Henry Colp in Carbondale on April 2, 1931. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1995. They shared sixty-four years of marriage. Mrs. Colp was a member of the Christian Life Center in Herrin. She worked proudly as a beautician for many years. Survivors include her sister- Dorothy Harris of Herrin, IL Numerous nieces and nephews Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers- Davy, Jessie, and Cecil Chandler, and three sisters- Madge Whitecotton, Dollie Cato, and Helen Chandler. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Brent Fitzgerald officiating. Entombment will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Tuesday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Christian Life Center in Herrin.
