EILEEN MARRS
Herrin-Eileen Marrs
As a child, Eileen's father would awaken her in the early hours of the morning to gaze at the stars in the heavens and she could name stars and constellations. Therefore, it seemed only natural for her to pass fro this life with the full eclipse of the moon just before midnight on Thursday, May 15. After a fifteen-month fight, cancer took her from us.
The fifth of ten children, Eileen was born into the family of Gordon and Ruth McKee on April 12, 1949, in Sterling, Illinois.
Happily married to Larry Marrs, they were wed in Las Vegas and have spent the last decade together, enjoying family and celebrating the birth of three beautiful grandchildren.
For more than twenty-five years, Eileen has been a hairdresser in the Herrin area, most recently at Sesations with co-owner, Marleen Hunter. In this time, her tender heart and overwhelming kindness touched the lives of many Herrin residents.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Larry Marrs, daughter and son-in-law Tiffany & Tim Parke, of Newburgh, Indiana; daughter & fiance, Amanda tope & Jeff Cain, of Herrin. Eileen's grandchildren, Jade Tope, 6, Gabriel Cain, 16 months, and Skylar Park, 6 months, carry her memory in their hearts.
Eileen's parents, Gordon and Ruth McKee, still live in Sterling, Illinois. Eileen's siblings, five girls and four boys include Sharon Fuglestad and her fiance, Doug Marcelini, of Janesville, Wisconsin; Kathleen McKee, of Apopka, Florida; Colleen Sterling and her partner, Ann Marie Stanczyk, of Blairsville, Georgia; Maureen and Raul Rodriquez, of Sterling, Illinois; Jeannie and Ed Ramos, of Sterling, Illinois; Richard McKee, of Rock Falls, Illinois; Ted McKee and Reta, of Morrison, Illinois, Kevin McKee and his partner Gabby, of Flat Rock, North Carolina; Michael McKee, of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Eileen is greatly missed by more than forty nephews, nieces, and in-laws.
Even in death, Eileen continues to touch the lives of those around her. She has willed her body to science in hopes others may avoid this malady that has taken her from us.
Please, come join her family for a celebration of her wonderful life. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. We grieve at her passing, but we are comforted to know she is now resting peacefully in the heart of God. Please bring with you photos, memorabilia, and the stories of how she has touched your life.
In lieu of flowers, Eileen asks you to donate to Hospice of Southern Illinois. These people are angels; everything you hear about them is true.
