Elda Garavaglia

Herrin- ELDA GARVAGLIA, age 90, of Herrin, passed away at 3:20pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Herrin Rehab and Nursing Center. Elda was born in Havanna, Arkansas on October 18, 1921, the daughter of Otto and Myrtle (Oliver) Sudbrack. She married Herman B. Garavaglia in Herrin on August 15, 1950. Together, they have shared sixty-one years of marriage. He survives. They moved back to Herrin from Florida over four years ago. Mrs. Garavaglia retired from Herrin Hospital, where she had worked as a registered nurse. She also had worked at several other local hospitals. Survivors include her husband- Herman Garavaglia of Herrin Nieces and Nephews- Pat Doty of West Frankfort Shari and George Orr of Huntsville, TX Tom and Birt Riley of Vienna Jackie and Ted Dean of Magnolia, TX Johna and JT Bundy of Johnston City JoEllen and Bill Montgomery of St Louis, MO Sondra and Ronald Bucker of Owensville, MO Gail and Rich Trotter of Fairfield Glade, TN Jackie and Bill Wear of Alcoa, TN Lorene Calcaterra of Herrin Several grand nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Eldas wishes were to be cremated with services to be held at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Education Foundation.
