Ellis R. Montgomery

Herrin Ellis R. Montgomery, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 10:35 A.M. at his home. Ellis was born May 1, 1925 in Fisk, Missouri to Emmitt and Sadie Montgomery. He married Sue Wolpers on April 24, 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi and together they have shared over 52 years of marriage. Ellis worked as an electrician for Brown & Colombo for 35 years. He was a member of IBEW #702, West Frankfort, Little Egypt Antique Auto Club and Crab Orchard Boat & Yacht Club. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Survivors include: Wife Sue Montgomery of Herrin Daughter Carole Busick and husband Don of Houston, Texas Son Tim Montgomery and wife Shelby of Energy Daughter Nancy Lindsey and husband Darren of Herrin Two Grandsons; Nicholas Montgomery of Herrin Zackery Lindsey of Herrin Two Granddaughters of Houston, Texas Two Great Grandchildren; Jesse & Nolan Montgomery of Herrin Two Step Grandchildren; Karrie Robinson & husband Kurt of Johnston City Keila Reid and husband David of Christopher Four Step Great Grandchildren; Kyle & Raiynn Robinson of Johnston City Koltan & Kaeleb Reid of Christopher Preceded by Parents, Daughter, Susan Montgomery, Brother, Emmitt Montgomery and Sister, Lillian Phillips Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow in Herrin City Cemetery with military rites performed by Herrins VFW and American Legion Post. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
