Elmer E. Atkins, Sr.

Marion Elmer E. Punk Atkins, Sr., 64, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 11:55 P.M. at his residence. Elmer was born October 30, 1939 to Violet Alldridge in Johnston City. He married Edna Leeper on March 05, 1962 and she survives in Marion. Elmer was a construction laborer for Local #577 for 30 years. He was a member of West Frankfort Moose Lodge #795 since 1973. Elmer liked to work outside helping his friends. He also enjoyed racecars, ballgames and jug fishing. He and Edna were married for 42 years and enjoyed their family. In 1996 he and Edna bought a new home, new garage and a nice automobile. Survivors include: Four (4) Children: Elmer E. and Tina Atkins of Marion Elizabeth L. Atkins of Makanda Paul Wayne & Connie Atkins of Marion Bertha Jane and Brad Phillips of Florida Nine (9) Grandchildren Two (2) Great Grandchildren Preceded by: Mother, One (1) Grandchild, Brother Albert Alldridge. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery.
