Hurst- William Elmer Hulsey, 85, of Hurst, passed away at 10:10 AM, Friday, February 9, 2007 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Elmer was born on May 13, 1921 in Herrin to Tom & Pearl (Asberry) Hulsey. He married Helen L. Chancey on October 9, 1939 in Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2003. Mr. Hulsey served his country honorably during WWII as a member of the US Navy. Once discharged, Mr. Hulsey worked thirty-six years for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement. He was a member of Crossroads Tabernacle Church in Bush and a member of the Hyde Pillow VFW Post # 1301 in Marion. Survivors include; Daughter & son in law- Martha Kay & Dennis Darter of Pittsburg, IL Grandchild- Jacklyn Parten & husband Phillip of Herrin Grandchild- William Anderson & wife Peggy of Midlothian, IL Grandchild- Robert Anderson & wife Pam of Hammond, IN Grandchild- Michael Anderson & wife Dora of Hazel Crest, IL Great Grandchild- Stacey Livingston & husband Tim of Cape Coral, FL Great Grandchild- Kassie Anderson of Hammond, IN Great Grandchild- Christopher Anderson of Hammond, IN Great Grandchild- Michael Anderson, Jr. of Tennessee Brother in law- Homer Chancey of Carterville Three Nieces & their families He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers; John & Albert Hulsey, sister; Pearl Hulsey and son in law; Jack Anderson. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Jim Rutherford will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. The Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts will perform military rites at graveside. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, February 12, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Crossroads Tabernacle Church and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ POB 429/ Herrin, IL 62948.
