Freeman Spur- Elsie Morgan, 87, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 5:35 AM, Monday, April 11, 2011 at Helia Healthcare Center in Energy.
Elsie was born on October 3, 1923 in West Bend, IL to Stelly & Bertha (Kelley) Hall. She married Ray C. Morgan on December 3, 1942 in Jackson, MO. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1994.
Elsie managed the Burger Nook Restaurant in West Frankfort for many years until her retirement. She was a protestant and a member of the Mothers of Vietnam Veterans support group and was honored at one time as Mother of the Year.
She enjoyed mowing her yard and was quite particular as to how it was done. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son who was killed during the Vietnam War- Junior Ray Morgan, brothers- Dillard and Tim Hall, sisters- Edna Allen, Roxie Mezo, Lessie Boone and Lockie Wallace and nieces and nephews- Cecil Mezo, Wanda Hall, Leroy Wallace, Shirley Jean Wallace and James Edward Wallace.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 15, 2011 ay Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Butch McClure will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
