Emma J. Kent

Marion- Emma J. Kent, 89, of Marion, passed away at 7:46 PM, Saturday, January 30, 2010 at her home in Marion surrounded by her loving family. Emma was born on April 10, 1920 in Harrisburg to Joseph & Patricia (Welps) Bugdonis. She married Robert L. Kent on Christmas Eve1938 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1989. She retired from Sangamo electric in the Ordill area where she worked on the production line and then owned Kents Pastry Shop in Marion. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. She was a compassionate and caring person who enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels, but most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jack Keller and his staff and to the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Southern Illinois. Survivors include- Daughter- Patricia Boles & husband Larry of Marion Grandchild- Cathy Duvall & husband Mike of Marion Grandchild- Bob Boles & wife Donna of Marion Grandchild- Mike Boles & wife Marilyn of Marion Seven Great Grandchildren: Chuck Hill & wife Sarah Josh Hill & wife Mattie Danielle Boles & Jessica Boles Nick Boles, Luke Boles & Daniel Boles Eight Great Great Grandchildren: McKenzie & Ethan Hill Kirissa, Lindsey, Matthew & Logan Hill Delton Boles & Anthony Boles-Whitmire She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son- Robert Leon Kent & one infant sister- Helen Bugdonis. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Monsignor Thomas Flach and Rev. David Landis will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
