Erdine M. Peknik

Herrin- ERDINE M. PEKNIK, age 85, of Herrin, passed away at 5:55pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Erdine was born on November 26, 1921 in Turton, South Dakota, the daughter of Ralph and Maude (White) Pardy. She married Norman Decke. He preceded her in death. She later married Milton Peknik on November 18, 1976 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1994. Mrs. Peknik was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. She retired from management at Western Electric in Chicago. Erdine enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and neighbors. Survivors include One niece- Diane Keigley of Centralia, IL Three nephews- Ernest and Adele Reising of Lansing, IL Daniel and Linda Reising of Green Bay, WI Kenneth and Beth Pardy of Manteno, IL Several great nieces and nephews Erdine was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers- Vernon and Donald Pardy, one sister- Vera Reising, and one niece Joan Rieck. As per her wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Chicago. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
