Herrin- Ernest B. Arhar, 91, of Herrin, passed away at 11:15 AM, Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home.
Ernest was born on October 16, 1925 in Beaverdale, PA to Joseph and Mary (Jereb) Arhar. He married Agnes Tanzely on June 16, 1951 in Dunlo, PA. She survives of Herrin.
He was a Veteran of the Army Air Force. He fought bravely while stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Once honorably discharged, he returned home and began a long career in manufacturing mining equipment. He owned Mining Industries Services for over 40 years.
He was catholic and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He also was a member of the American Legion in Pennsylvania.

Wife- Agnes Arhar of Herrin
Daughter- Cynthia Arhar of Mason, OH
Nephews- Frank and Jim Krasovic of Johnstown, PA
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Frank Arhar and sister- Theresa Krasovic.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Inurnment will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Herrin VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the Illinois National Guard. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service, Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Memorial services were arranged through Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
