Eva Sinks, in her 88th year, passed away at 2:20 P.M. on September 8, 2002 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Eva was a Baptist, and in her earlier years she attended Lake Creek Church, in Pittsburg and First Baptist Church in Marion. Since moving to Marion 5 years ago, she attended services at Parkway Estates.
Eva was the third daughter of John and Sena Avery. She was born January 15, 1914 in Williamson County, Illinois. Her parents preceded her in death.
Eva Married Arlie Theron Sinks on January 15, 1947, in Yuma, Arizona, he survives her. Arlie was a career Navy officer. Eva and Arlie traveled in many parts of the world. they returned to Southern Illinois in 1986, leaving their long time home base in San Diego, California.
Eva was also pre-deceased by her sisters and brothers in law: Mary(Orval) Bogard, Etta Faye Sinks, and Annabelle (Alfred) Richardson.
She is survived by her dearest husband, Arlie, of Marion, and her loving nieces and nephews: Beverly (Richard) Johnson of Marion, Orval (Paula) Bogard of Carterville, John (Amy) Richardson of Carbondale, Diann (Neill) Valdes of Carbondale. She is also survived by 7 Great Nieces and Nephews, and 1 Great, Great Nephew. Her Aunt, Lottie Hood and Family of Marion and Phoenix, also survive.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Thetis Sutherland, Quincy, nephew-in-law Robert (Nancy) Elliott, Quincy, niece-in-law, Cheryl (Edwin) richardson, Boston, GA. The other survivors would be 2 great Nephews-in-law and 1 Great Niece-in-law, and 5 Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
Eva will always be remembered by her family for her listening abilities and interest in each of them, her handwork, and her passion to read about Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. Before she moved to California, she was employed at the Stylart Shoppe in Marion. She always said the owner, Mrs. Deaton was her mentor in the fashions she loved.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Brothers Robert Nolan and Wayne Meracle will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Funeral Home.
