Eva Tonso

Herrin- Eva Tonso, 95, of Herrin, passed away at 7:15 PM, Friday, August 5, 2005 at her home with her son by her side. Eva was born on July 26, 1910 in Herrin to Joe & Teresa (Guglielmino) Martoglio. She married Joe Tonso on June 20, 1932 in Marion. He preceded her in death on New Years Eve 2001. Mrs. Tonso was a lifelong homemaker. She actually enjoyed housework and took pride in her home. When they were younger she and Joe remodeled the family home themselves. Prior to marriage she worked for a while at Shaffners and the Herrin City Library. Eva loved spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed news talk and current events. Mrs. Tonso enjoyed cooking anything Italian and sewing. SURVIVORS: Son & dtr in law- Bill & Beverley Tonso- Evansville, IN Niece- Marian Ferrero- Pleasant Ridge, Mich. Nephew- Harvey Ferrero- Ferndale, Mich. Niece- Dorothy Boles- Tempe, AZ Several great nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother; Chester Martoglio, and one sister; Nina Ferrero. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Evas daughter in law, Beverley Tonso will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
