Herrin-Evelyn Grounds, 84, passed away 11:35 A.M., Monday, January 10, 2005 at her daughters home.
Evelyn was born June 17, 1920 to Corbett C.M. & Ora (Harris) Edwards. She married Ernest E. Ernie Grounds on February 12, 1940 in Marion, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2003.
Mrs. Grounds was a homemaker. She was very faithful in volunteering her time at the Herrin Food Pantry before her health began to fail. She was a member of the Herrin First Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday school & church. She had several hobbies, which included sewing, cooking and crafts.

Also survived by several nieces & nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother James Grounds.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Teal & Rev. Don Grammer officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Library or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
