Evelyn I. Blankenship

Herrin- EVELYN IRENE BLANKENSHIP, age 75, of Herrin, passed away at 12:30pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at her residence in Herrin. Evelyn was born on May 21, 1931 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Joseph Hiram and Lyta Bernice (Zimmerman) Shoemaker. She worked as a proof operator for the Bank of Herrin for twenty years. Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the First Christian Church in Hurst and also attended the First Christian Church in Herrin. Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law-Dennis and Marcia Blankenship of Marion, IL; a son- Dave Blankenship of Murphysboro, IL; two granddaughters and their husbands- Anne and Rob Craig of Marion, IL and Elizabeth and Kory Yates of Hopkinsville, KY; one great grandson- Peyton Craig of Marion, IL and another great grandchild on the way; former husband-Charles Ray Blankenship of Marion, IL; two nephews- Kenneth & Holly Fletcher of Paragould, Ark. and Donald & Jackie Fletcher of Costa Rica. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother- Joseph Hiram Shoemaker, Jr., and one sister- Mary Ellen Sweet. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Ron Henwood officiating. Burial will follow at DeSoto Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
