Evelyn M. Black

Marion EVELYN M. BLACK, age 95, of Marion, passed away at 1:05am on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Evelyn was born in Williamson County on June 7, 1915, the daughter of John L. and Addie (Miller) Turner. She married Loren Springhart in 1934 and he preceded her in death. She married Leslie Black in 1950. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1963. Evelyn was a member of the Marion Third Baptist Church, the Marion Senior Citizens, and the AARP. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring from the Veterans Hospital. Survivors include: One daughter and son-in-law- JoAnn and Jim Nicholson of Marion, IL Three Grandchildren-Dana and Doug Marlow of Herrin, IL Jimmy and Lisa Nicholson of Marion, IL Jana and Ben Rassmusen of Marion, IL Four Great Grandchildren- Dustin Whitehead David Whitehead Lezlie Nicholson Wyatt Nicholson Three great great grandchildren-Landen, London, and Laila Whitehead Brother-Chester Turner of Marion, IL Sister- Mildred Richey of Marion, IL She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters- Wanda Bailey and Afton Jochum, and great granddaughter-in-law- Christina Whitehead. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Scott Kallem and Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of the service on Monday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
