Herrin- Everett Jackson Jennings, Jr., 75, of Herrin, passed away at 4:20 AM, Friday, October 20, 2006 at White Oaks Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. Everett was born on August 1, 1931 in Herrin to Everett & Clara (Earl) Jennings, Sr. He married his wife of fifty six years, Carolyn South, on August 5, 1950 in Energy. She survives of Herrin. He served his country honorably during the Korean War while enlisted in the Army. Afterwards he worked in the coal mines at Old Ben #24 until his retirement. He was a member of the Herrin First Church of God. He was also a member of the Herrin Veterans of Foreign Wars and United Mine Workers of America. SURVIVORS: Wife- Carolyn Jennings- Herrin Son & daughter in law- Dan & Laura Jennings- Herrin Daughter & son in law- Ramona & David Doering- Herrin Daughter- Lori Jennings- Herrin Ten Grandchildren: Heather Miller- Herrin Leslie Miller- Marion Nicole Brown & husband Steven- W. Frankfort Kimberly Doering- Herrin Jimmy Crabb- Marion Brittny Crabb- Herrin Lonnie Berg- Herrin Eric Jennings- Herrin Alex Jennings- Herrin Adam Jennings- Herrin Great Grandchild- Lane Childers Great Grandchild- Shawn Brown Great Grandchild- Nicolas Brown Great Grandchild- Emma Robinson Brother & sister in law- Carl & Pauline Jennings- Golconda Sister- Avis Cullum- Johnston City Sister- Clara Mae Dorsey- Whitwell, TN Several nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly Ann Jennings, three brothers, Fred, Lenial & Charles Jennings, and three sisters, Beaulah Crow, Lorene Blacklock & Shirley Ellen Jennings. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Herrin First Church of God Building Fund and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
