Herrin- Everett Jackson Jennings, Jr., 75, of Herrin, passed away at 4:20 AM, Friday, October 20, 2006 at White Oaks Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Everett was born on August 1, 1931 in Herrin to Everett & Clara (Earl) Jennings, Sr. He married his wife of fifty six years, Carolyn South, on August 5, 1950 in Energy. She survives of Herrin.
He served his country honorably during the Korean War while enlisted in the Army. Afterwards he worked in the coal mines at Old Ben #24 until his retirement.
He was a member of the Herrin First Church of God. He was also a member of the Herrin Veterans of Foreign Wars and United Mine Workers of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly Ann Jennings, three brothers, Fred, Lenial & Charles Jennings, and three sisters, Beaulah Crow, Lorene Blacklock & Shirley Ellen Jennings.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
