Florene Thornton

Marion- FLORENE THORNTON, age 84, of rural Marion, passed away at 8:23am on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Herrin Hospital. Florene was born in Herrin on January 8, 1925, the daughter of James and Thelma Reed. She married Lavern Thornton. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2002. Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker. Survivors include her won and daughter-in-law- Bob and Charlene Thornton of Marion Granddaughter- Sandy and Chris Stanley of Marion, IL Grandson- Duane and Janet Thornton of Marion, IL Great Grandchildren- Trevor, Darcy, and Chase Stanley Josh, Brianna, and Kaci Thornton Brother-in-law- Johnny Thornton of Herrin, IL She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
