Floyd J. Holderfield, age 90, died at 4:30 A.M. Sunday, March 18, 2001, at his residence in Marion. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial followed in Marion Odd Fellows Cemetery, Marion. Visitation was from noon until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Mr. Holderfield had been a coal miner with the Old Peabody Coal Company and had worked at Maytag (Norge) from 1954 to 1974. He was a member of I.A.M. Local No. 556 of Herrin. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing and watching golf. He was born on October 30, 1910 in Marion to James and Maud (Fuller) Holderfield. He married Alberta Cash in December of 1939. She preceded him in death in August of 1959. He then married Margarette Margie Wieland on April 15, 1961. She survives of Marion. Other survivors include three (3) sons and daughters-in-law, all of Marion: Jack and Kay Holderfield Joe and Marsha Holderfield Jim and Doris Holderfield Four (4) Grandchildren: Dylan Holderfield, Marion Casey Holderfield, Tempe, Arizona Mark Holderfield (and wife Kelly), Jackson, Tennessee Christa Koval, Marion One (1) Great-Grandchild: Bailey Koval, Marion Three (3) Stepsons: Ed Wieland, Marion Bud (and wife Janice) Wieland, Herrin Barry Wieland, Florida One (1) Stepdaughter: Phyllis Kubala, Trenton, New Jersey Five (5) Stepgrandchildren Ten (10) Step-greatgrandchildren One (1) Brother and Sister-in-law: Frank and Dorothy Holderfield, Colonial Heights, Virginia One (1) Sister: Fern Curran of Garland, Texas Numerous Nieces & Nephews: He was preceded by: Parents, 1 sister, Helen Rodgers, 1 niece, Shirley Bradley.
