Marion- Frances Deaton Jourdan, 87, of Marion, passed away at 3:58 PM, Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Frances was born on March 28, 1923 in Creal Springs to Rev. Elvis & Martha (Gibbs) Laney. She married Herbert Deaton on June 14, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1968. She later married Bill Jourdan in October of 1974 in Kentucky. He preceded her in death in February of 1995.
Frances retired in 1985 after having worked many years in customer service for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion. She played the piano and organ and sang specials in the choir at New Horizons General Baptist Church in Marion. She was also a member of the Family Heirs gospel group and the Eastern Star of Creal Springs.

Daughter- Ginger Boyer & husband Dale of Tuscola
Son- Laney Deaton & wife Judy Rae of Marion
Daughter- Jackie Crain & husband Harold of Mascoutah
Ten grandchildren

Many nieces & nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother and two sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 28, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Shorty Alsip will officiate. Burial will follow at Simmons Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will be from 3-6:00 PM, Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
