Frank DeMonsi, 102, of Marion passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2 A.M. at his home.
Frank was born February 6, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York the son of Antonio and Lucy (DeStefano) DeMonsi. He married Mary Ornawka on October 23, 1937 in New Jersey and together they were blessed with over 72 years of marriage, until her death on January 18, 2010.
Frank retired from Allen Industries in Herrin in 1972, where he was the plant manager until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, a charter member of the Marion Knights of Columbus and the oldest member.
He is survived by his son Frank DeMonsi and wife Lydia, daughter Jackie Hines and the late Roger Hines. Six grandchildren Jennifer Graul and husband Kenny, Darren DeMonsi and wife Janice, John Hines and his significant other Christina Burns, Jayne Crader and her significant other Gary Wielgus, Kristian DeMonsi and Jesse Hines. Five great grandchildren Keegan and Avery Graul, Olivia Crader, Bailey Hines and Evan DeMonsi. Honorary members of the family Russell and Sydney, extended members of the family and caregivers Carolyn Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Mr. & Mrs. Myron Evrard and Mr. & Mrs. Steve Woolard and their daughter.

The funeral mass will be Friday, March 23, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thomas Flach officiating. Following the service the committal service will be held in the Goddard Chapel in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with the arrangements.
