Gary D. "Bull" Brandon

Herrin- GARY D. BULL BRANDON, age 66, of Herrin, passed away at 8:40am on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Herrin Hospital. Gary was born in Herrin on February 24, 1943, the son of Arthur and Alma (Foe) Brandon. He married Judy Walker in Herrin on February 20, 1965. They shared forty-four years of marriage. She survives in Herrin. Gary was a coal miner for Old Ben #26 and worked at General Dynamics. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandkids who called him Bull. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and old Western movies. He was a craftsman and spent many hours in his woodshop. He made rocking horses, furniture and other gifts for countless friends and family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and special neighbors. Survivors include his wife- Judy Brandon of Herrin, IL Son and Daughter-In-Law- Doug and Tara Brandon of Herrin, IL Three Grandchildren- Jenna, Matthew, and Libby Brandon of Herrin, IL Sister- Sharon Garrett of Herrin, IL Brother- Terry and Joan Brandon of Corpus Christi, TX Father-In-Law- Jack Walker of Herrin, IL Sister-In-Law- Jackie and James McNew of Energy, IL Brother-In-Law- Bill and Linda Walker of North Carolina Sister-In-Law- Judy Walker-Coultas of Woodlawn, IL Several Nieces and Nephews Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one brother- Carl Brandon, his mother-in-law- Mary Walker, and one brother-in-law- Roger Walker. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Education Foundation.
