Gary D. Sullivan, Sr.

Freeman Spur- GARY DALE SULLIVAN, SR., age 65, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 11:30am on Wednesday June 13, 2007 at his residence in Freeman Spur. Gary was born in East St. Louis on February 21, 1942, the son of John H. and Jackie (Killman) Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan was a retired operating engineer of local 318. He was a member of the Shriners Club of East St Louis, the Fin and Feather Club of Freeman Spur, the Herrin Masonic Lodge and the Freeman Spur American Legion. Gary was a proud United States Navy Veteran. Survivors include a son- Gary Sullivan, Jr. of Scott City, MO; a daughter- Dawn Sullivan of Sikeston, MO; 6 grandchildren- Nathan Ridgeway of Carterville; Jennifer Melvin of West Frankfort; Noah Ridgeway of Herrin; Julie Sullivan of St. Louis, John Sullivan of Sun City, AZ; and Natalie Ridgeway of Carterville; 4 great grandchildren; brother- Rick Sullivan of St. Jacob; sister and brother-in-law- Sherry & Eric Quam of Urbana; special friend- Maxine Hall of Herrin; several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Burial will follow at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman Spur with military honors at graveside. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, June 15, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Masonic rites will be conducted at 6:30pm on Friday evening at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
