Gene McNeely

Gene McNeely, 82, of Marion passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 9:20 P.M. at his home. Gene was born January 25, 1928 in Williamson County the son of Lawrence A. & Mary Ruth (Albright) McNeely. He married Pat Holman on July 19, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas and together they have shared over 57 years of marriage. He began working for the Marion City Parks as the 1st Park Superintendent; he then worked at the Bank of Marion. He retired from Holmes Construction Company after 30 years. Gene was of the Baptist faith; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and enjoyed joking with others. In addition to his wife he is survived by; Daughters; Deborah Bearden and husband Larry of Marion Barbara Jean King and husband Scott of Marion Katherine Mezo and husband Howard of the Lake of Egypt Cindy Mappin of Marion Son Randal G. McNeely and wife Renea of Marion Grandchildren; Traci Nicholson Larron Bearden Megan Bearden Cody & Dusty King Mark Mezo Rusty Mappin Kaylee & Kara McNeely Great Grandchildren; Justin Nicholson Makayla Nicholson McKenzie Nicholson Alyssa Mezo Brooke Mezo Preceded by his parents, Brother Kenneth McNeely, sisters Alice Taylor, Shirley Travelstead and Reba Blumenstock Funeral services will be Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kevin McNeely, Rev. Kenny Blumenstock and Rev. Perry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening after 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
