Marion: Geneva Inez (Grammy) Neuman, 78, stepped into eternity to be with the Lord at 5 A.M. Monday, April 8, 2002 at the Herrin Hospital after a lengthy bout with cancer. Services will be held on Thursday April 11, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with visitation from 12:00 until time of service. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Eddie Pullen officiating. Inez was born to Cortlan and Reta (Swafford) Price on February 4, 1924 in Johnston City, Illinois, which both preceded her into Eternity. She married David Neuman June 19, 1943; they enjoyed being missionaries to the Navajo Indians during the 1950?s then she served as a pastor?s wife to several small churches before retiring in the 1970?s. After a lengthy time of caring for her elderly parents and their demise, they chose to move back to Illinois to be closer to their relatives. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother, and a very talented artist. She loved babies (especially her grandbabies) and adored animals. She was an avid reader, loved Christian music, and she desired to serve the Lord with all her heart and was eager to tell others of him. She is survived by her husband, David Ross Neuman, her daughter Dyana R. Fox, her brother, Greg Price of Cortez, Colorado and sister-in-law, Nancy Neuman of Baltimore Maryland. Grandchildren, Tami Alongi, Staci Avery, Rena Hurst, Debbie Houck, David Avery, Jimmy Avery, Michael Neuman, Val Hinchey, and Aaron Neuman. Great grandchildren, John David Frye, Ryan, Sarah, and Jessica Alongi, Wyatt and Jared Avery, Tatiana Neuman, Heather and Kevin Houck, Grace Ann Michaeloski Avery, Christina and Billy Hinchey, whom she loved dearly. Both her parents, her son, Michael L. Neuman, and son-in-law John Fox preceded her in death. This obituary and Guest Register may be viewed at www.hughesfuneralhomes.com of the southern.com
