Geneva Mae Phillips, age 89, of Marion, died Monday, July 16th at 11:50 P.M. at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Visitation for Mrs. Phillips will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 19th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 20th at Mitchell-Hughes with Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Marion. Memorials may be given to the Spillertown Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mrs. Phillips was born December 26, 1911, in Marion to Guy and Harlie Gazelle (Blake) Rex. They preceded her in death. She married George Lester Phillips on September 2, 1953 in Hernando, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1987. She was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law, Rex Blake Travelstead & Marcia of St. Louis, MO; one grandson, Blake Travelstead of St. Louis, MO; one stepson, David Phillips of Marion; five stepdaughters, Betty (& Perry) Hilliard of Marion, Mary Lou (& Bill) Sackman of Energy, Mildred (& Estes) Haseker of Pittsburg, Peggy (& Gordon) Gisy of Marion, and Carole (& Paul) Sprague of Marion. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Willeda Jean Travelstead,
two sisters, Vivian Frey and Margaret Marks, and one step-son, Bob Phillips.
