George A. Stearns

Herrin- GEORGE A. STEARNS, age 65, of Herrin, passed away at 3:15am on Sunday, May 10, 2008 at Franklin Hospital in Benton. George was born in Granite City on June 12, 1942, the son of Kenneth Adam and Suzie (Pelvan) Stearns. He made Malone's Taffy and sold at various carnivals. George was also a Salvation Army bell ringer. He was a United States Army veteran and had even run for Mayor. George loved telling stories. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law- Kenneth "Abe" and Peggy Stearns of Energy, IL; Great Niece- Courtney Stearns of Johnston City, IL; and Great Niece- Autumn Stearns of Herrin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother- Dennis P. Stearns. Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 16, 2008 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev.
