Marion-George F. Baker, 84, died 8:45 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Fountains Nursing Home Care Facility in Marion. He was born July 25, 1920 in Marion, Illinois to George & Lucy Jane (Blades) Baker. After he came home from WWII he married Mary Susan Edwards on September 23, 1946 in Benton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2000. He retired from Ameren/CIPS after 36 years of service as a lineman. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Marion. He was a WW II army veteran. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He loved kids, especially his nieces and nephews. Survivors Include: Daughter: Rosemary Baker of Crab Orchard, IL. Son & Daughter In Law: Alan & Denise Baker of Royalton, IL. Grandson: Jason Baker of Royalton, IL. Great Grandson: Mason Motsinger of Royalton, IL. Brother: John Baker of Marion, IL. Sister & Brother-In-Law: Betty & John Dodd of White Ash, IL. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, Jimmy, Charles, Nolan and Billy Lee , four sisters, Dorothy, Ralene, Hattie and Vernalee. Also preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Martha Ellen Blades who raised him. Funeral services will be 11: 00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Jerry Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
