Herrin - George Orville Bowden, 91, died at 1:38 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin, IL.
Mr. Bowden was born February l7, 1910 in Mt. Ash, Kentucky to Augustus and Ethel Rachel (Sparks) Bowden.
He married Cleada Mauzy on May l7, l937 in Elgin, IL. She died April l2, l991.
He was a food production manager at Southern Illinois University. He and his wife Cleada were co-owners of the Herrin Coffee Shoppe for many years with his brother and sister in law. He was a member of the Lake of Egypt First Christian Church where he served as an Elder.

His parents, wife Cleada Bowden and daughter in law Brenda Wallace-Bowden preceded him in death.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Leroy Waggoner will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
