Georgia Mae (Waycheck) Draves

Marion- Georgia Mae (Waycheck) Draves, age 82, of Marion, passed away at 6:30am on Friday, August 14, 2015 at her home in Marion.  Georgia was born in Herrin on September 4, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Lorena (Davis) Waycheck.  Her mother passed away when she was one year old, and Georgia was raised by her grandparents- Allen and Mae Ella Davis.  She majored in voice at the Rosary College in Chicago. Georgia had worked as the bank manager of Gary National Bank in Miller Beach, Indiana for more than twelve years.  She married Walter Draves in California in 1976. He preceded her in death in 2007.   Mrs. Draves was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.   Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law- Robin (Hood) and Drago Kragulj of Crete, IL Three Grandchildren- Danka (Kragulj) and Ryan Kulikowski of Durham, NC      Boja Kragulj of Crete, IL      Elijah Jovan Kragulj of Crete, IL Two Great Grandchildren- Harrison Joseph Kulikowski of Durham, NC      Connor Gabriel Kulikowski of Durham, NC  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- William Allen Hood, and her grandparents who raised her- Allen and Mae Ella Davis.  A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating.  Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.   Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.   For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.  For more information, or to sign the memorial guest register, please visit www.hughesfuneralhomes.com
