Carterville- Geraldine Gerry Throgmorton, 80, of Carterville, passed away at 2:46 PM, Friday, April 25, 2008 at Herrin Hospital.
Geraldine was born on February 11, 1928 in Energy to Robert Lee & Emma Minnie (Rosenberger) Snider. She married Norman Throgmorton, Jr. on May 21, 1947 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1997.
Gerry formerly worked at a clerk at Sears and a waitress at the Illinois Caf in Herrin, but most enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her husband and children. She was a member of United Baptist Church in Garden City, MI. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to her flowers and playing pinochle and rummy with her son and friends. Prior to Normans passing, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with each other.

Step- Grandchild- Justin Johnson & wife Billy and children
Step- Grandchild- Ashley Stroud & fianc Bryce Cox
Brother- George Snider of Marion
Sister & brother in law- Wanda & Morton Shively of Marion
Sister in law- Idis Shirley of Herrin
Sister in law- Avis Rhodes of Rome, GA
Brother in law- Bill Throgmorton & wife Margaret of Madison, FL

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Wilma Barwick, brother- Carl Snider, sister- Ethel Rosenberger, sisters in law- Lois Carey, Mary Throgmorton, Margie Throgmorton and Maxine Snider, brothers in law- Jim Dyer, Virgil Barwick, Ted Carey, Ed Shirley & Cecile Rhodes and one niece and nephew.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
