Gertrude A. Wurm, 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2012 at 9:42 P.M. at her home. Gerturde was born December 21, 1924 in Breese, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Cecilia (Richter) Schmidt. She married Robert Bookie Wurm on July 9, 1947 in Breese and together they shared over 18 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in May, 1966. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She was a member of the St. Joseph Womens Guild. Gertrude was the housekeeper for St. Josephs Parrish for Father Mohr for 31 years. Survivors include; Three nieces; Karen and John Sander of Jefferson City, Missouri Nancy and John Schomaker of New Baden, Illinois Doris and Mike Ray of Riverton, Illinois Four Great Nieces and Nephews Two Great-Great Nephews Two Sister-in-laws; Lorrine Schmidt of Breese, Illinois Margie Wurm of Breese, Illinois Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Brother Leo Schmidt and Great Nephew Bret Sander. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2012 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Dominicks Cemetery in Breese. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church on the day of the service or at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
