Marion- Gladys M. Simpson, 85, of Marion, died at 11:40 A.M., Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Gladys was born on June 18, 1916 in Williamson Co., IL. to Frank & Anna (Norman) Nichols. She married John Simpson on December 5, 1936 in Sesser, IL. He survives of Marion. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and cared for her family. She worked for many years at Simpson Income Tax Service and later for Joe Marlo. Gladys was a member for over sixty years and served as treasurer for several years of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a member of the Methodist Women's Club, sang in the choir for over forty years, and taught Sunday school. SURVIVORS: Son & dau in law- Robert & Marlene Simpson- Herrin Dau & son in law- Sandra & Larry Williams- Fairfield, IL Three Grandchildren: Bradley Simpson- Herrin Tammy & husband Glen Lee- Fairfield Bryan & wife Barbara Williams- Fairfield Three Great Grandchildren: Derek Lee- Fairfield Brandon Lee - Fairfield Lauren Williams- Fairfield Sister- Alene Earl- Marion Her parents, three brothers, and four sisters preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 16, 2001 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The Revs. James Slone & Michael G. Ebert will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 5- 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. At the family's request her casket will be closed following visitation on Thursday.
