Gladys R. Baker

Herrin- Gladys R. Baker, 91, of Herrin, passed away at 11:30 PM, Friday, January 25, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Gladys was born on December 18, 1916 in Herrin to Harvey & Luvenia (Colp) Miller. She married Dalton Odom in 1933 in Benton. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married Loren Baker in 1968 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1982. She worked the transformer line at American Magnetic's for many years until her retirement. She was a member of and taught Sunday school at Herrin Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed craftwork, especially sewing, cooking for her family, working crossword puzzles and watching old time TV game shows. Survivors include: Daughter-Marda Osman of Herrin Son & daughter in law- Gary W. & Langdon Odom of Herrin Nine Grandchildren Twelve Great Grandchildren Three great great grandchildren Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sons- Thomas & James Harvey Odom, three brothers & four sisters. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Dr. Jerry Ford will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, January 28, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
