Gloria Ruth Craig

Marion Gloria Ruth Craig, 83, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 9:50 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Gloria Ruth was born November 23, 1927 in Williamson County the daughter of William Thomas & Dollie (Fletcher) Owen. She married Harry Craig and he preceded her in death on October 3, 1985. Gloria Ruth worked at Herrin Hospital for 15 years as a nurse. She greatly enjoyed her career in nursing and was loved by patients and staff. She resided in rural Marion and attended Walnut Hill Baptist Church. After retiring she spent her time sewing, tending to her flower garden and raising canaries. Her greatest enjoyment was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always very giving to her family and willing to put their needs first. To her children she was, and still is, the most wonderful mother in the world. Survivors include her; Daughters; Betty Davis and husband John of Marion Lois Norris of Marion Judy Craig of Marion Mary Edwards and husband Jessie of Marion Debbie Basham and husband Rick of Galatia Sons; Harry Craig and wife Rita of Johnston City Gerald Craig and wife Vicki of Marion Paul Craig and wife Juanita of Pittsburg Grandchildren; Nicki & Jeff Spiller, Stachia & David Cullers, Jackie & Jeff Shadowens, Carmen & Chris Cutsinger, Michelle & Jared Whitehead, Billie & Doug Gwaltney, Jim & Julie Beasley, Bobby Sue & David Johnson, Mike Norris, Bryan Norris, Mathew Norris, Lisa Taylor, Larry & Katrina Craig, Christina & William Smith, Jason & Danielle Craig, Jeremiah Craig, Amy Craig, Tosha & Lucky Sivok, Aaron Burger, Tiffany & Cliff Stone Several Great & Great Great Grandchildren Sister Glorine Arakelian and husband Michael of Illinois Preceded by Parents, Husband Harry, Sisters Amma Jean Eden, Kathleen Price, Brothers William Robert Owen, James Thomas Owen, Granddaughter Terri Lynn Davis, Great Grandson Cody Whitehead, Great Granddaughter Kelc Norris, Son-in-laws John Norris and Bobby Norris Funeral services will be Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Steve Shea officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Paulton. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
