Herrin- Gregory Alan Wallace, 56, of Herrin, passed away at 9:55 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his home.
Greg was born on December 19, 1950 in Herrin to William Pete & Alice Jayne (Weaver) Wallace. He married Denise Coon on February 24, 2002 in Herrin.
While enlisted in the US Navy during Vietnam, he traveled the world and was stationed in the French Riviera, Southeast Asia, Africa, Ireland and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He worked the flight decks of US Carriers Saratoga and Kitty hawk. He was a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked in the coal mines and as a bartender but more recently he drove a truck. Greg enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest with no regrets. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, cribbage and friends and family. He loved live music and the first concert he ever attended was the Doors.

He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Brother Denton Vaughn will officiate. A time of gathering and remembrance will be from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
