Herrin- Harold Dean Emery, 75, of Herrin died at 4:35 AM, Monday, April 15, 2002 at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Harold was born on December 10, 1926 in Cambria, IL to Noles & Myrtle (Lockard) Emery. He married Frances T. Tauro on May 17, 1947 in the Philippine Islands. When they returned stateside, they renewed their vows at Fr. DeGasperi's house. Mr. Emery was a WWII Army veteran. He worked three years for Sangamon Electric, twenty-two years for Allen's. He retired in 1988 from Federal Wire Mill where he worked as a laborer for ten years. His spare time was spent working on cars and fixing and improving items around his home. Emery & friend Debbie Gosnell- Herrin Seven Grandchildren: Eric & Jaime Rowan- Makanda Josh & wife Judy Emery- Herrin Aaron & wife Kami Emery- Herrin Cody Emery- Herrin Ryan Murray- Jackson, TN Rachel Murray- Student @ Union University- Jackson, TN Great Grandchild- Tara Emery- Herrin Step Grandchildren- Nuley & Nome Step Great Grandchildren- Blake, Tyler, & Samantha Sister- Dorothy Dunning- Herrin Sister- Clara Payne- Herrin Sister- Vivian Hall- Herrin Bro & sis in law- Mike & Helen Emery- Herrin Brother- Charles Emery- Herrin Several nieces, nephews, and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Richard Emery, sisters; Mary Katherine Emery, Dolores Knight, and Wanda Allen. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 18, 2002 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Ryan Murray, grandson, will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. The Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts will perform military rites at the grave. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
