Harold L. Ray, age 90, died Saturday, May 3rd at his home.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mayor Robert Butler will give the eulogy .
Harold was born October 18, 1912 in Corinth.
Harold was married to Rosemary Mills Ray and she preceded him in death in November, 1996.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Walter Siembab) Ray Anders and grandson, Peter Siembab.
Harold and Rosemary Ray were both descendants of the original settlers of the Illinois territory. They met in Carbondale during college and after they married in 1935, they made their home in Southern Illinois until 1957. In Marion, after the war, Harold owned Ray Motor Sales on Court Street. Harold was a member of the First Christian Church in Marion and the Marion Elks Club.
After moving to Wheaton, a Chicago suburb, Harold worked as an Auditor for the United States Government Accounting Office. Harold and Rosemary celebrated their 60th anniversary in 1995 after having enjoyed 20 years of retirement together.
