Freeman Spur- HARRY EDWARD KINLEY, age 59, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 5:10am on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Herrin Hospital.
Harry was born in Herrin on October 23, 1952, the son of Edward and Betty (Gossage) Kinley. Harry worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a 22 year member of I.B.O.E. Local 318.
Harrys greatest passions were his family and his music. Harry was considered by many to be the best blues guitar player in Southern Illinois. He has played professionally since he was in his early teens. He has played with many area bands from the Egyptian Combo to most recently Shakey Jake. To see him become one with his guitar on stage was truly a thing of beauty. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

A small graveside service of family and close friends were his wishes. Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman Spur. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
A Celebration of his life and music, being planned by his close friends and fellow musicians Richard Gulley and Curt Smith, will be held at a later date.
Harry will be greatly missed.
