HARRY R. SHERUDA
Marion Harry R. Sheruda, 77 of Marion died Monday, September 01, 2003 at 10:30 P.M. at his residence.
Harry was born November 30, 1925 in Buckner, Illinois to Max and Eva (Glada) Sheruda. He married Marlene Comer on November 11, 1976 in Marion, Illinois and she survives.
Harry was retired after 36 years from Old Ben #21 Mines in Sesser. Harry served in the U.S. Marines Corp during WWII. He was very proud of having served his country in the military, was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Marion, member of the U.M.W.of A and a lifetime member of VFW Post #1301. Harry was strong supporter of the Civil Defense, always interested in the involvement of safety of the citizens. He helped start the Buckner Volunteer Fire Department and served for years on the Mine Safety Committee as he felt very strongly about mine safety. His father was killed in a mining accident when Harry was 2 years old.

Preceded by: Both Parents, 1 son and 1 daughter in infancy, 1 sister Mary Izzo, 1 brother John Sheruda.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Marion. Rev. Robert A. Scott and Rev. Dan Whitfield will be officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in the Garden of Field and Honor with military rites performed by V.F.W. Post #1301 of Marion. Visitation will be Friday from 5 8 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
