Harvey F. English

HERRIN- Harvey F. English, age 83, of Herrin, passed away at 3:00pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Friendship Care Center in Herrin. Harvey was born on November 30, 1922 in Markwick, KY to Netter and Flora M. (Jernigan) English. He married Mary Lee Marshall in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on April 11, 1943. She survives in Herrin. Mr. English was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in New Ginnea. Survivors include- wife- Mary Lee English- Herrin, IL 2 Sons and Daughters-In-Law- Jimmy and Vicky English- Herrin, IL Harvey and Celeste Rima English- Herrin, IL 2 Daughters and Sons-In-Law- Joy Lynn and Bob Radford- Carterville, IL Iris and Del Smith- Herrin, IL 8 Grandchildren 18 Great Grandchildren 1 Brother- Bill English- Seattle, WA 4 Sisters- Thelma Larwinski- Herrin, IL Gloria Shift- Johnston City, IL Margaret Schmittling- East St Louis Delores Wilson- New Athens, IL Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Earl English. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Friendship Care Nursing Center and to VNA/TIP Hospice. Graveside services for Mr. English will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Herrin City Cemetery with Pastor Brent Fitzgerald officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Herrins American Legion and VFW Posts. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
