Harvey Gene Emery

Herrin- HARVEY GENE EMERY, age 69, of Herrin, passed away at 4:40am on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Herrin Rehab and Nursing Center. Harvey was born on August 1, 1942, the son of Harvey C. and Lena Naomi (Graham) Emery. He married Karen Anderson in Marion on August 10, 1963. She survives in Herrin. Harvey had worked at Norge in Herrin for sixteen years and later worked at Allens in Herrin for eighteen years. Most recently, he had worked for the City of Herrin. Harvey loved cars and hotrods. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife- Karen Emery of Herrin Son- Mark Emery of Herrin Daughter and Son-in-law- Lisa and Jake Wirtes of Marion Four Grandchildren- Jeffrey Fann of Johnston City Cory Emery of Johnston City Morgan and Elijah Wirtes of Marion Sister- Von and Jim Johnson of Carterville Brother-in-law- Jim and Diane Anderson of Seattle, Washington Nieces and nephew He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Larry Emery. A time of visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Herrin City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Herrin Rehab and Nursing Center.
