Hazel LaVaughn Wisely

Marion- Hazel LaVaughn Wisely, age 97, of Marion, passed away at 12:47pm on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion. LaVaughn was born on July 10, 1918 in Tamaroa, the daughter of Ira and Lula (Loucks) Opp. She was united in marriage to Raymond Wisely on January 6, 1934 in Elkville. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1997. LaVaughn and her husband worked many years, side by side, as owners and operators of Wisely’s Grocery Store. She helped establish the Heartland Christian Church in Marion in 1963. Survivors include son- Forrest Gale Wisely of Bloomington Five Grandchildren- Vickie (Ed) Hutson of Lee’s Summit, MO Mike Hancock of Raytown, MO Janice (Preston) Smith of Blue Springs, MO Matthew (Christine) Wisely of Newburgh, IN Adam (Laura) Wisely of Baltimore, MD Sixteen Great Grandchildren Nine Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Sharon (Wisely) Hancock, son-in-law- Al Hancock, daughter-in-law- Connie Wisely, one sister, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Greg Gibbs officiating and Rev. Randy Allison assisting. Burial will follow at Elkville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
