Hazel V. Chamness, age 96, of Marion, passed away at 9:02pm on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Herrin Hospital.
Hazel was born in Williamson County on May 22, 1919, the daughter of Everett Malcolm and Virtle (Schaubert) Rich. She married Clay Maxwell Chamness in Missouri in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Chamness was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was of Baptist faith. Hazel enjoyed cooking and doing crafts, but her passion in life was caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson- Jason Chamness, and seven brothers- Paul, Charles, Erskine, Roy, Harold, Elmer, and Everett Rich, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
