Pittsburg Helen M. Richey, 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at 12:05 A.M. at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Helen was born January 1, 1929 the daughter of Harry & Pearl (Motsinger) Etherton in Crab Orchard. She married Charles (Fred) Richey on June 11, 1950 in Crab Orchard and they have shared over 57 years of marriage. Fred survives in Pittsburg. Helen was a member of Center Baptist Church in Crab Orchard. Helen had been a school teacher since 1950 and taught at Norris City, Marion and Crab Orchard. She retired from Southern Illinois University where she had taught accounting for 15 years. She was a member of the SIU Alumni Association. Helen is survived by: Her husband Fred of Pittsburg Children and Grandchildren; Dan & Pam Richey and their children, Sybil and William Richey Tom & Cheryl Richey and their children Sarah and David Richey and Gregory and Rachel Conte Polly & Mark Brinker and their children Jennifer Sharbono, Kurt, Melissa and Heather Brinker Brother Harry Etherton of Ypsilanti, MI Several nieces and nephews Preceded by Her Parents and four sisters, Flo Dean Jenkins, Sybil Wilson, Mildred Rogers and Pauline Beers. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Sam White officiating. Burial will follow in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home & Family Services. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
